Sorry if this has been done before but it seems such a simple idea........
I have a small 20 foot boat and in some locks when going up river, it's impossible to see where to throw your lines onto the bollards. This is where the use of a lock keeper is invaluable as they can often take the lines for you.
So, if like me, would you think it handy to know which side of the lock the lock keeper actually works from (and therefore which side the controls are on)? Sometimes, when the lock is manned, it's obvious which side he/she's on but sometimes they just appear from nowhere.
This info could aslo be useful if you're passing through (in big or small boats) when the lock's are un-manned so at least you could ready your crew as to which side you want to tie up to.
