This is a very good point you have raised about different kit.

I should have remembered, we had tremendous problems in the past at work with kit from different manufacturers all talking to each other. Always big arguments as to who's problem it is. In the end only reall solution was to get all manufacturers engineers onboard at the same time to get things fixed promptly

I have 2 Lowrance plotters and a JRC radar.

Without any question at all I would install the set up pvb has detailed were I to be installing both capabilities on a smallish boat today.

I used exactly this set up on GC1's new boat and is is simply superb - in a crowded Studland Bay every boat and buoy was clearly defined. This is a combination of 640x480 pixels on a 6.4" screen and a well matched radome.

IMHO it's that clear cut today.
