I was sitting in the cafè opposite the port i couldent decide weather to order a bottle of "Ruchottes-Chambertin" 1984 (which was just before the nuclear pollution covered europe)or a Premières cotes de Blaye??

MOBOing has provided me with expenses & we have an account with the cafè its therefore a simple choise not limited by funds!I sat there wondering what to choose, then i thought i would try whats popular

I choise a pot of "Kousmichoff" Russian tea.I poured a glass.I wondered if i would ever have enough money to buy a another laptop?Id been offered the Compaq Evo N410c im borrowing but it only has an 800meg P3(not 1.2megP3)very odd?The price asked was 150€

The tea was strong and hot i added a drop of bio milk produced by French cows grazing next to the Burgundy wine fields.I thought of the scent of the wine grapes being pressed & the wine being fermented which the cows would smell while chewing their grass

Id been offered a printer a canon i80 which id bought, the owner of a MOBO near by had brought it down only to discover that canon now sell the i90!!Which he had to have! The i80 came with a battery. For 100€ it was impossible to refuse!the battery alone cost 98€!(mobo life)

Im further than ever from having a laptop.I want another IBM either x30 x31 or x40.I couldent sell my old canon BCJ 85 as it only printed sometimes and needed a bash it hadent printed for some time,i gave it another try then overboard!

I poured another glass of steaming tea and wondered if others were still useing the practical 12v BCJ 80s&85s?Or had upgraded to the 16v i70,i80ori90???

What do you use to print aboard?

The problem is its still an ink jet and the copies which arnt waterproof.I spray pages i want in the cockpit with hair laquer which dose the job. What i would like is a laser jet??Or not??

Is there an affordable printer which would turn out waterproof copies that would be ok aboard?I dont have power problems.

What printer do you have aboard???

I'd be inclined to use a John Bull printing outfit - all you need is a pair of tweezers to move the rubber type and a self- inking stamp pad with endorsing ink.

Hi
Sounds like you are having a fine time to yourself.
I use Canon i90, great bit of kit.
Also recently got a Canon canoscan lide 90 flatbed scanner, doesn't need plugs runs of the usb, brilliant.
Things for boats just get better and better.
No more buckets of cds/dvds, just a wee usb driven hard drive or ipod.
No more cables running from one side of the boat to the other.
No more holding mobile phone to ear while it slowly cooks, fitted a new stereo that has blue tooth and a wee mike, great.
I wonder what will be next /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We use a Canon IP90 aswell, it.s brilliant. It's really small, bluetooth, runs on batteries and the ink pots don't cost a fortune!

I would defo recommend one,

Andy

Hi and welcome back from your lap of luxury.

I've used waterproof paper from http://www.memory-map.co.uk/acatalog/accessories_waterproof_paper.html

for lots of Dew Cough Ed in Burrow expeditions, but you should be able to find suppliers of similar stuff for laser and inkjet in France.

I have an A4 Kyocera, but it's chosen cos it has a good ecological impact of the replacement bits, not the cost per page.

Keep up the reports from the front line, amigo.

Hi Trouville,

I'm still using my old BJ 10sx and I have a spare (£10 off EBay), haven't solved the power problem, but use the Inverter and Canon power supply on board. I wanted a small flat printer that would match the height of the folded laptop (IBM Thinkpad). The whole setup is mounted in a fold-down tray that is fixed to the main bulkhead. It is quickly deployed but safely stowed.

We do enjoy your views on life.

I'd love to get my hands on a Pentax PocketJet!
Tiny, thermal so doesn't use ink, optional bluetooth, runs off internal battery/12V/USB, very few moving parts, up to 300dpi, A4

pocketJet

Hmm with the current Dollar exange rate...
