At one of the boat shows a year or two back, one of motorboat magazines was giving away baseball caps with a built in bungy cord and clip. Attach the crocodile clip to collar, and no lost cap. Arrive at destination, and it clipped back inside so you didn't look like a complete pillock.
I use a Lowe Alpine ... triple point on the outside and fleece on the inside with peak and ear flaps.. It doesn't budge.. I use it up mountains, on boats .. everywhere when it is cold and or wet... I have a lanyard which means should it blow off (so far it hasn't) it wont be lost..
The other half is a fashion victim so has to buy a name - so he got the Musto with the clip. But I bought a piece of cord with a crocodile clip at each end for a couple of quid at a shop in Bowness on Windermere (think it was Shepherds). Worked well didn't loose my hat!
There's a nasty man trying to wake us all up and have a fight on the MB forum but its probably best just to ignore him. I think he's a bit of a sweetie in real life but needs some stimulation to get going!
Good news, I've managed to break free, the troop transporter got me as far as France before it crashlanded, quite near the sea, as it happens, I've found a nice big motorboat and am currently crashing my way across the bay of Biscay to Brighton.
Ohdrat and Dickh suggested the Lowe alpine waterproof (3 point material) hat as being really good. There is a sale on at the Lowe Alpine Shop at the Castleford Freeport and yesterday I bought one of these hats at £17 versus the normal £30. It reduced the wife and kids to jelly - delerious with laughter - when I walked in with it on (whilst wearing my sensible dark blue suit)!! If anyone is looking ofr a new hat this may be a good time to check out your local dealer. These hats feel just right for those times when you are going to get cold ears or the draining noise of high wind in your ears for a long time

I think, on balance I'll get a Breton. Failing that a Tilley. Failing that a 6" nail (will ibrufen cure the resulting headaches I wonder?).
I don't reckon anybody'll think I'm trying to look like an old salt. Most people usually wonder which ditch the cat dragged me out of last (so they can avoid the area next time), consequently nothing will change with a change of hat!
Yes. I can't deny it, I did visit the stinkie site.. sob.. Im so ashamed... But Ive learnt my lesson, and I didn't download anything, and it was all research for my new book. Honest M'lord.
