Having used the Matsutec for a few months now, I would make it the least prominent, it's occasionally used intensively and largely ignored the rest of the time. It does have a very nice damped SOG readout which is very good below 1knot and I find helpful when picking up a mooring buoy, we have high bows so the buoy disappears a long way off and I like to know how fast I'm slowing down. Otherwise it gets barely a look unless we're crossing a lane.

I did get sidetracked a bit, after all the subject of this thread is: "Which Panel Looks Best?". I think that from the original three, number [3] with the vertical centres aligned was most popular. So now I can look at all the order options.

Are those images really to scale? I assume you've checked the dimensions, but the SH180 plotter looks much smaller than I remember from when we used to have one.

As for the layout options, I think the tops of the instruments adjacent to the edge of the panel will be the most prominent piece of lining-up from most viewing directions, so option 1 will work best.
