The time has come for me to look at replacing the non slip paint on my Berwick. Having seen the PBO article, what have been your experiences with the International and Hempel non slip paints? Can single pack paints be as good and long lasting as 2 pack? Or is adding sand to your favourite paint the way to go?

Don't think there are any 2 pack non slip unless you DIY by adding granules of sand to the paint. International does what it says on the tin is easy to apply an d seems to last. Been using it for 20+ years and is what was on your boat originally.

Thanks - that is good to know. I have been veering towards the International, but a friend thinks a 2 pack paint with either sand or the International non slip additive would be longer lasting.

+1 for Interdeck, very easy to apply,

we tried the "add sand option to paint" option and ended up with a sand dune at the base of the mizzen mast and the artificial sand is really expensive

Looks like Interdeck seems to get the vote! I just need to summon the will to strip the old peeling layers of masonry paint a previous owner has applied first....

I have done exactly this over this winter. I bought 5 litres of Starchem Synstrip to remove the old paint. This stuff is universally banned as it is mostly methylene chloride, but it is available on the internet. This is what Nitromors used to be and it works very well, but take precautions. I then used International Pre-kote undercoat followed by Interdeck. Results look good and I am assured that adhesion and wear are good.
