do you use/prefer? I had a Gerber whose pliers' point snipped off /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif ... and eventually got lost. Looking to replace it on fathers day (you wish!)

Leatherman Super Tool 200. Daily companion for the past three years; it has needed the non-serated blade sharpening once and the smallest screwdriver tip re ground.

Oh, and all the blades lock too.

None

IMO, the only tool is the best tool for the job --- OK, It costs to get the correct tool but, IMO, cheapo imitiations are and can be coffin threatening when the chips are up and the tool doesn't work.

If you play cards then in the words of my Great-Grandma, "Never send a poor man to do a King's work' ... erggh ....

I have the old style Leatherman. The pliers are uncomfortable to hold and there is no locking mechanism. I think things have improved though.
I also broke the tip off the pliers, long after they were purchased. I was prepared to be disappointed by the "lifetime guarantee" but sent them back anyway, a brand new pair arrived by return of post - excellent.

Leatherman Charge for me. Like the ability to change driver bits and razorsharp knives. Only negative is that the pliers aren't spring loaded but still easy to use one handed. Also the lanyard attachment is releasd by the same button that locks the attachments open so when you close it you risk the lanyard coming off. Hopefully you are holding it when you do that so not a real issue. Quality is excellent

Victorinox blades stay sharper than leatherman and i find them easier to hol and use,
I have had both over the years and its a victorinox i use now and i use it everyday!

Gerber for me I have two, one with really tough pliers, not thin nose ones, the other has a natty holder for a jigsaw blade, so ypou can choose all types. Also has a wee socket set on screwdriver bits, very useful.
I also swear by there rubber handled knives, excellent bit of kit.

Old style Leatherman - now very worn. Because I use it so much I've been given a Wave, but it is just a bit heavy to keep in my pocket at all times.

Leatherman original. Mine is now 20 years old, is generally used quite a few times every day, and has been rebuilt twice by the manufacturer - for free. They really do come with a lifetime guarantee.
