I've been a subscriber to PBO for several years but recently have bought YM a couple of times when the cover has looked interesting. I've found it interesting and must admit i'm thinking of swapping as PBO can be read in half an hour and maybe I've just got bored. In the last YM i bought it seemed to be almost entirely written by Duncan Kent who must be very busy - i think he used to do boat reviews in Sailing Today.
Be interested what other readers read.

Sailing magazines are a bit like gardening mags in that the yearly cycle induces repeated topics. I must admit to having followed YM since the '70s and occasionally look at others. My father used to take Yachting World in the '50s and I used to read it after him and lust after the cruising designs but I have nothing in common with its world now.

Practical Boat Owner started out as a very worthwhile magazine that was packed with useful practical information that was aimed, literally, at the practical boat owner. Sadly, that magazine ceased to exist years ago and the present version is but a pale relative of the original.

If you are after in-depth information about the technical aspects of boats and what goes in them I would suggest that you have a good look at "Professional BoatBuilder" an American publication that is issued bi-monthly. I have all the copies since the first issue and I can guarantee that it is not a magazine that "can be read in half an hour"! ;)

I swap most years when renewal comes up. This year I am going YM. But if it wasnt fopr the significant discount you can get by subscribing. I would go along to WHSmiths lending library every month, but what looks like the most interesting one and read then replace on the shelf the other one.

Most of the content I have read several times in the last 30 years or so but they do as something to leaf through whilst semi catatonic over the muesli.
