Would someone please check the AC adapter for their Icom IC-M31 and let me know the model number/output voltage and current.

I’ve put several 12V adapters for electronic items in the same drawer and since none have the manufacturers’ names on them I don’t know which is which. I did contact Icom some time ago and had two very helpful replies but they were different. The handbook isn’t any help.

I know there were several adapter options for this radio. The one I think I have is Model T48-12-800D-3 and output 12V 800mA.

Reminder to me - label AC adapters as soon as I open the box. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks.

I just looked at my adaptor, my Icom is not the same model as yours, I have the IC-M71, but it is 12v.

My AC charger is BC1.005 Model MC120D050UK/E+

12v @500mA

Sorry if this is useless.

Just checked mine and it has model no T48-16-1000-3, 16volt 1000mA on it.

Definately Icom IC-M41 (the one with 'Not intended for distress and safety purposes' on the back!!)

Hope that helps.

For the avoidance of doubt (I think the previous post had a typo in it re M41) my ICOM - M31 charger has the following on it - " BC-145UK" "T46-16-1000D-3" and is 16volts at 1000ma.

The charger from my previous (different model) ICOM handheld VHF died, but that radio seemed quite happy being charger by another DC power supply of similar voltage (it was actually the power supply from an electronic percussion machine!).

Thanks Shrimper19 and Carvel. I’m beginning to see why I got two different answers from Icom. I can’t find a charger with those specifications but maybe it is not really very critical. Because I wasn’t sure about the correct charger and I didn’t want to cook the battery, I have been using a 9V 500mA one. This seems to work perfectly but I suspect the VHF doesn’t quite get up to full charge.

I know they supplied various AC adapters to match a variety of their chargers. It looks like the BC145 is for rapid charging. Presumably, the greater to output of the AC adapter, the less time you should leave the battery on charge.

If only Icom had put their name or the part number on the AC adapter (like your BC145).

I should have said that mine is the earlier 'go-flat' VHF not the later one with the lithium ion battery.
