I thought that the question might best be asked of you who live aboard.

I'm looking to replace our FW domestic system supplying three sinks, two showers and a deck shower. 250 gal water tank capacity. Largish calorifier. I need to choose a pump(s) to obtain household type shower capacity with decent pressure and flow and in particular I want to fit a reliable unit - I would rather spend on a decent robust unit than keep coming back to knackered bits of cheap plastic.

24V or 240v are the preferred options.

Thoughts gratefully received. Cheers.

We have had a Jabsco Par Max 1.9 for about eight years, perfectly reliable but undersized for galley and heads sinks. It was bought as the only one available when our Shurflo failed. Last week I replaced it with a Jabsco Par Max 3.5, which has far greater flow and seems to be a good bit of kit. My refrigerator is seawater cooled, using a Jabsco Par Max 1 that runs roughly 30% of the time throughout the summer, May to October. It has been in place now for about 5 years, perfectly reliable. So Jabsco certainly works for me.

Go with a 240v industrial unit not boaty kit. We had an industrial fridge and watermark maker both 240v and had no problems. We had a 12v Jabsco water pump and pressure tank and had endless problems including the pressure switch failing, which once burnt out the motor and one or other of the bottom diaphragms splitting. We kept two sets of spares at all times plus a spare motor.

We have Jabsco and it seems reliable. We had issues with the small plastic Jabsco buffer vessel so we fitted the largest we could accommodate. The 5litre buffer (accumulator) makes a world of difference to the number of stop/starts the pump will do in its lifetime. We can now fill the kettle, wash your hands etc and the pump won't run at all.
