As mentioned in previous post, I have a few patches on my hull where the gel coat has been rubbed through to the fibreglass. I realise I'll need to do the whole hull at some point but for the moment just want to spot coat the bare patches with epoxy barrier coat so I can antifoul & get out sailing. What would be the best and/or cheapest product to use for this?

Do you want just enough to do the bare patches for now or do you get enough for the complete hull?
I find the problem in buying very small quantities is you pay the earth. My supplier doesn't sell anything less than a 5 Liter kit anyway.

Small pack of West Epoxy?

Coat with an epoxy fairing filler such as Watertite, then ust use Primocon for now as spot painting epoxy is time consuming (needs usually 4 or 5 coats) and intended for doing the complete hull. So nothing to gain from using it rather than Primocon and antifoul.

Many thanks for the recommendations, really helpful. East Coat Fibreglass were great but in the end I've gone for the VC Tar2 as it seems like the easiest way to get a smooth finish on relatively small areas. Will know by Monday if I was right........

Interestingly, the guy at East Coast said that if I could only see resin in the bare patches (ie not mat) then it should be fine as that would afford pretty much the same protection as gel coat - but that if I wanted a belt & braces approach then epoxying the patches would make sense.
