Which deep cycle battery

Replacement time. I'm looking for maybe a 85 to 110 Ah battery, deep cycle for onboard power. This is NOT for engine starting.
So what does the panel recommend? Not wanting to spend vast amounts.

SFL are semi sealed - leak resistant. .... but where did you get a 110ah at that price?!!

Lucasdirect on ebay have some 110 amp hour batteries - latest sealed calcium models going for about £70 plus £10 delivery......

I need a new battery and after shopping around that was the best deal I could find and I still like the Lucas name......

[/ QUOTE ] According to the website its a Dual Purpose battery not a true deep cycle one. Sealed and marginally better than the FLA (flooded lead acid) but surely a leisure battery by any other name.

SDC (serious deep cycling) is a semi traction battery and better still
AGM Longlife a bit better than that
ADC Deep Cycle allows 75% discharge
But for real deep cycling it has to be the SGEL (super gel) that allows 80% discharge and promises a life of 500 cycles.

But I guess that's talking serious money.

i paid £65.00 today for the sqadron 85amp sfl and that was a good deal on what i have been quoted

My dilemma also extends to comparing the Squadron vs Lucas batteries.

Lucas 110Ah: 100 cycles at 50% dod (depth of discharge) for £81 delivered vs;
Squadron 100Ah: 200 cycles at 60% dod for £125 delivered.

Thats £35 more but twice the life, for a battery that can also help engine start. I'm quite happy to get a cheaper or smaller one, but a 110/100 one fits the box neatly.

FLASH. Just found a Sqad. 100ah for £79.95 plus £15 for delivery, apparently.

Visit a Caravan dealer; they sell leisure batteries at a very good price £50 ~ £60 110 amps.

Merlin have a deep cycle 105 AH for £62 and a 113 AH for £70, both plus VAT

sorry - the e-bay shop is lucas-batteries-direct so if you just put that into the e-bay shops search you'll get there.....although you might end up with the package deal of 2 for £140, although if you e-mail them or call them they will sell you jsut one!

In the end I decided on a cheapish one from a local caravan accessories shop. £65 for 110AH with 2 yr guarantee.
