Which circa 25' sports cruiser?

Don't forget, an American road trailer will probably not be road legal in the UK

I would looknfor a Sealine S23 or the Oder 215/218 range v6 petrol or maybe a Glastron?

Have a looknat Essex Boatyards, lots to see but a bit of a drive, tip- avoid Southend on Sea guestbhouses

Most American trailers are totally legal, provided the electric brakes have been replaced with over-run brakes, usually hydraulic over-run units.

You need to also be aware that many US trailer are too wide. 7'6" is the max trailer width allowed on UK roads. (the boat can be up to 9'6", as a 1' overhang is allowed on each side)

American trailer's are legal in the UK as long as the hitch is changed from the 2" american spec to the 50mm UK spec as well as changing the braking system to over-run, either hydraulic or rod controlled.
Maximim legal width for a trailer is 8' (although most F18 catamarans are towed assembled at 8'6''). You can tow a load of up to 9' without escort and up to 12' wide with police notification and an escort. You can go wider than 12' but you need excempted lorries for the really big stuff :)

That made me go and look it up and you are right. The law changed in 2010.

This relates to towing behind a private car.

Max width now 8'4" (2.55m up from 2.3m)

Interestingly, the old 1' (305mm) overhand that was allowed either side is no longer mentioned on the site I am looking at.

Does this mean that the trailer is allowed do be wider than before, but the boat now needs to be narrower?

Where are you getting the 9' figure from? It used to be 9'6". According to the site I am looking at it is now 8'4".
