Which Chemical Metal?

I want to fill in some small corrosion pits on the end face of the water cooled exhaust manifold so that it mates well with the thermostat housing. Are the various chemical metal fillers much alike or does any particular brand stand out ? JB Weld seems to be highly regarded. Does anyone have practical experience of using it?

I used JB Weld to repair a crack in the cylinder block of my VP2001 four years ago with complete success - so far....
