Right, time to stick the charts on the wedding list. Any comment on which to buy?Going from Solent to Torquay, Biscay, Gib, Tenerife,Antigua. Currently use Imray and Admiralty, have no real preference but which would be best for this trip. Also would like some electronic charting just for Atlantic to watch slooow progress across. All ideas welcome. Ps which have wsg84 thingy, and does anyone have any secondhand.

In the May 2002 issue of YM someone is offering 22 charts all new Sept 2001.

The portfolio covers your route exactly. Asking £220 "half price".

Re: Electronic Charts of the Atlantic??????

hm. Jonic, normally the chip charts show the coastline in super detail. But across the atlantic, the depth sounder will say"deep" and the gps (any gps) will give u a lat/long. That's all you can have. Having said that, i do have a chart of the western med to infom me that the sea is blue, which i cross-check at regular intervals.

My Garmin GPS-MAP would show what you want on the lowest scale setting. The monochrome version is now quite affordable and for what you want you would not need chips. I suspect though, that once you had used it you would find, as I have, what a super piece of kit it is and want to buy as many chips as possible!
