currently have BT broadband (£63.81 per qtr) but find it a pain that there is no web space.

any suggestions for a supplier who charges reasonably and provides space?

We get business access and speed and as many accounts as we like for less than we were paying for BT Home.

I am in the same situation but like BT Broadband, so went to these people for the webspace. Get yourself a domain address as well and if you ever want to move, you are not tied to any provider just to keep your website.

ditto - I've split my providers
fairdasl for the broadband - cheap as the others and no complaints on the service
and oneandone.co.uk for the webspace/mail domain. They also have a template thing so even numptys can build a website!

swmbo is on plusnet, and they've had some pretty major outages recently, with a promise to talke remedial action so it won't happen again each time!

Forgot to mention.. when Eclipse cut their prices by £3/month about 18 months ago, they applied it to existing users too. Haven't come across that with any other business.

Haven't suffered outages down here in Devon, also had new pricing applied to existing customers. so overall no complaints. 2Mb's nice!

Is there a huge difference between 500k and 2M in ordinary web use? Obviously file transfers will be super fast, but day to day browsing? Might upgrade once I put two more pcs onto the network.

As you say, file transfers are much quicker. In terms of everyday brousing there is less of an impact other than pages, particularly those with pictures, seem to just arrive as one flash rather than text followed by the misc pics & bits etc.

I provide support to clients for windows & unix networks as well as specific software so the speed here is a big improvement in this area and also makes other facilities more feasible, such as seamless video conferencing for "face to face" support.

John

Wot d'you want web space for ? Piccies of your 6-pack ? Pessimist says he's PM-ed you re web space.

For a thorough review try http://www.adslguide.org.uk. Personally although not the cheapest I'd recommend Firefly - great service via fora and phone.

Do we get the URL to see the photies ?!
