I'm looking to spend upto about 70000stg, on a boat to be used on the thames, and also for trips to france etc,

what do fellow readers of this forum recommend?

also which is the best marina on the thames, to keep the boat at?

You want a P35 on shafts, diesel,. With Cummins if possible. Might have to pay a bit more for a good one.

Well here's a thought. Hagrids T39 money, Jimi's F36, Wiggy's Targa and I'll chip in my lot. We could buy something impressive with this pot. Would be good to keep it in Cornwall though.

A little more info' would help.
If you mean non tidal Thames, then you don't want too much power. However unless you are retired you may not want to plod over the channel at 7 knots in a full displacement boat.
Flybridge boats, especially those with steep ladders are not ideal for Thames locks.
Depending on size requirements:
Broom Crown - 6 berth command bridge, 15 knots +.
Nimbus - various sizes, no flybridge.
Dutch steel - if speed is not required.

As for marinas, need info' on rough preferred location.

looking for something with a reasonable turn of speed. I'm not retired - yet! Plan to find a marina within 45 mins of West London (ealing) and keep it there.

I wasnt really thinking of a flybridge

As Mike says something like a Broom Crown 37 ideal for your requirements, aft helm gives low air draft for bridges (flybridge a bit restictive) plus very capable sea boat. Double owners suite aft cabin with ensuite shower & head.

I may sound keen on Crowns thats cos mines for sale, (I've moved to the Med)
