I am thinking about mounting the chart plotter at the helm as I have been given a suitable pod. Only trouble is that it will hide the leading edge of the compass when I am standing up because my existing Cetrek compass has rather a high binnacle.

Ideally, I would like one of these but they ain't cheap.

Any other recommendations ?

Are you sure it really is a problem?

I wouldn't mind having to bend a bit to read a compass. I have a plotter at the helm and it hides the compass a little if you are tall.

Having said that, I have spent days sailing only to realise one afternoon that I hadn't removed the compass cover for the whole passage! Show how much I refer to it when I have a plotter in front of my face.

If you want to go down market you could use one of these:

But a man in your position should be able to stretch to a SUUNTO a mere £654.83
