On my boat the windows consist of perspex panels let into rebated openings in the mahogany coachroof sides, the perspex panels are kept in place with a stainless steel bezel on the outside which also hides the joint between the window and the coachroof sides. The bezels are secured to the wood with woodscrews.

What would be a good compound for bedding the perspex windows into the rebated openings?

nb The plan is to coat the rebate with epoxy first, so as to seal it from moisture. As a result, the bedding compound will not be in contact with the wood but with the epoxy coating it.

I've had good results with Arbomast BR for exactly this purpose. Non setting butyl rubber mastic that skins over.

That's interesting. I used Arbomast BR to bed some deck fittings. The only problem with it was that it shrank a lot in the first few hours after applying it. Have you had that problem, or found a way of avoiding it?

Mnhh! Sounds like my Twister? Re-bedding windows the next job as butyl rubber failed last time as it did not set and remained like sticky treacle!

After reading the references to CT1 and the available colours or transparency for the product- and cost, this would seem to be one alternative to those mentioned, and particularly as it does not harden etc.
Our park home is 25 years old and the sealing of panels is done with CT1, is still rubber- like and paintable.
