Taking the Boat to the Med next year, spainish coast for a while. Anyone know if you need a different antifoul for the warm waters of the Med?
Also is there any restrictions on the type you can use? because of environment etc.
I always use a hard self polishing antifoul here in the UK, The boat is a motor cruiser capable of 20 knots.

Many Thanks

Barry

FWIW, the people who look after my boat in Majorca recommend and use Titan medium speed antifouling paint. Sorry, can't find a link to the manufacturer but I can say that it seems to perform quite well over a season
But the hull is'nt the real issue. What will slow you down a lot is growth on anything which can't be painted like props, shafts and rudders. My boat can easily lose 5-6 knots in a matter of only a few weeks because of barnacle growth on the sterngear. I've tried Propspeed but it was'nt successful and now I use a diver 3-4 times a year to clean the sterngear. Growth on the bow thruster too can cause a significant loss of efficiency
It would be a good idea to keep diving gear on board if possible

Would echo Mike's comments completely. In Malta have tried several International types Micron & Micron 66 but frankly they don't seem to work! I've thought the same as others, why do we buy the stuff and all that is required to apply???
Diving 3 or 4 times a year is the only way for us. Have noticed she fouls up a lot more in the marina berth than when I leave her on a swinging mooring, water depth same, 60ft.
Good Luck.
