I've always prefered eroding antifouls so there's less paint build up, but most of them say they're only suitable up to 25 knots. So what are the options for faster boats, does it need to be hard a/f, has anyone used eroding successfully on a faster boat? What about Coppercoat? The hull needs stripping back to gel coat anyway, for other reasons, so I can start with whatever I like.

Seajet say:-

Seajet Antifouling - 034 Emperor - Self Polishing

Great performance against slime and weed, will work at high speeds of up to 40 knots, suitable for all hull types including aluminium and a popular choice for motorboat owners. Bright colours due to copper thiosyanate (white copper).

I use Trilux. One coat is ok for the 6 month season, so we re not talking alot of build up.
International said you would probably get away with Uno, unless you did 40knt all day long, but it would need several coats

I've had some problems with antifoul from last summer, but mostly due to poor preparation caused by me rushing the guys to get it finished in Poole last May. It fell off by August! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I had Hayling Glass Fibre and Repairs strip the hull completely back to bare grp and after two coats of primer and two more of Trilux, it's been perfect.

I don't travel at over 40 knots for long but I certainly do. I topped out at the same (wierd removed) speed yesterday as I did in August too. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Trilux was well recommended by others on here and friends at Sparkes and I don't think you can go far wrong.

Yeh, the Seajet looks good, the problem in Solent is more slime than barnacles, and it has an anti-slime ingredient, plus I can use the same stuff on the outdrives. I think i'll go for that.
