A quick search of the forum seems to have the odd discussion item but no real conclusions.

We bought our first boat this summer (Bayliner 185 Bowrider) and have had a good time dropping it in and out of the water at Poole and Wargrave/Windsor.

Originally Poole based, it has seawater anodes fitted, but looking at what we have used it for this year it has been almost 50:50 seawater/freshwater.

Being nothing more than a high powered soapdish it is not kept in the water. It is washed down and kept on the trailer at Wargrave.

Is there a best option for an anode kit, each venture into the water is probably a maximum of 4 or 5 hours with a freshwater wash down at the end.

Yes see MG Duffs website in particular THIS PAGE
Trouble is there is no real way of catering for a craft moving repeatedly between fresh and salt water,

Aluminium may be the best choice although still not suitable for continuous fresh water use.

BUT as said for a boat not kept afloat there is hardly any need for anodes esp for only a few hours afloat, except perhaps on outboards and overdrives etc. in salt water.

Replace your anode(s) when more than half eaten away. At present rate of decay how many decades/centuries/millennia do you think that will take?
