I’m going to glue some formica pieces to my painted coachroof
I‘m familiar with lots of common glues -epoxies, contact adhesives, PVA types such as titebond and polyurethane such as gorilla glue , but all these have drawbacks.
Contact glues will work without clamping but give me no second chance on placement, the others will all need support whilst the glue sets, a pain for ceiling panels. I don’t think I can spread sikaflex evenly enough to use it.
In the diy stores I see lots of tubes of stuff which claim great instant grip . Are any of these likely to be better?
Any advice greatly appreciated

I used the B&Q equivalent of No More Nails to fix carpet tiles to the inside of the hull after nearly gassing myself trying to use contact adhesive. Worked incredibly well, no fumes, instant grab and shows no sign of any trouble 5 years in. Oh, and cheap as chips as well. No idea how it’d do on a painted surface though.

Velcro pads?

I used (very strong) 3M Dual Lock strips which had a stronger grip on each other than I could achieve, with their standard backing adhesive, to the deck head and panels - so I had to remove their backing adhesive, roughen the backs of the strips (and the panels and deck head too of course) and use epoxy. It was still a good solution overall, but with a 'Weakest Link' issue. :)

If I am gluing anything overhead on my boat I use prop to hold it in position until the glue sets.

Like a poor man's panel lift
