Where\'s Uncle Albert?

Haven't had a posting from him since he wrote that excellent poem. Maybe he's run off to the Bahamas with a 17 year old Swedish blue eyed blonde nymph.

Re: Where\'s Uncle Albert?

Good guess Byron but I`m back now (she ran out of money).
With an excuse to spin a dit.

I have a little problem
It`s driving me insane.
now the refits nearly over
Should I change the name

You see I must be careful
When I go to the Thames
A bad choice could offend
Some of my new found friends

“Bionic cock” was my first choice
But it wasn`t meant to be,
cos swmbo said `behave yourself`
Or you`ll be back at sea.`

So then I had a great idea
I would set a test
With first prize of a crate of ale
For the name that was the best

“Gay Cavalier” was first in line
From my daughters bit of rough
`Ignore him` dad she whispered
He`s obviously a puff.

“Dunroamin” was suggested
By the steward in the club
An “Maid of Glass” an “StinkPot”
Came up from the local pub.

But the winners were the motley crew
Of slingers in our yard,
who came up with, “Viagra,”

Cos it’s always on the hard.

OK! OK! so your renaming your bateaux, you can't just ask people for suggestions, you have to write a poem /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Seriously look here first, you will find the names in use for most of the non-tidal Thames.
Thames boat names
So you can check for duplications and not end up having to have a figure after the name.
Right! Suggestion, I like
'Uncle Albert'

Re: Where\'s Uncle Albert?

Second that, Byron -

Uncle Albert will mean different things to different folks and will surely raise a smile or knowing nod - after all that's what most owners would like.

It's a comfortable name and there are too many corny namings around which make one blench, such as "llamedos", "Piston broke"; amusing when once seen, but then

Just be thoroughly boring EA would probably object to Viagra. Remember lockkeepers often have to call out the boat's name and at least one would object to such a name.

Loved the pome anyway
