Could it be that it might.....

...look a little like this one day soon?

Re: Where\'s this building site?

Would it be anywhere near your new mooring by any chance? Looks vaguely familiar but what with the weather and everything, I haven't been down for the past few weeks, so don't know if they are tinkering with their piles (ooh! Matron....).

Given that you were planning to return to the UK after Bastille Day, I assume you're back?

Re: Where\'s this building site?

Pardon me for taking a professional interest; are they concrete piles? The french have a bit of a thing about prestressed concrete!

Re: Where\'s this building site?

yep, they were concrete. couldnt tell you if they were prestressed or not, though.

I was certainly prestressed myself, having approached the entrance channel at 11kts SOG, not having been in there before.

We were allocated a berth which was the width of the boat plus the diameter of one fender, so it was a case of stuffing the nose in then applying sufficient throttle to complete the manouvre !!

Re: Where\'s this building site?

Ah, I wonder if it's anywhere near here?

The boat in the foreground was doing the standing still when I took the photo, and shortly afterwards started making negative forward motion, so to speak. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

[ QUOTE ]
That looks like the entrance to the Morbihan

[/ QUOTE ] Correct. Taken from Port Navalo, on the eastern side of the entrance.

The question is, did Mr Vertically Unchallenged nose in there?

Re: Where\'s this building site?

Well judging by your 'oh I was so lucky with the weather' post, it must be Loctudy or L'Aberw'rach. And I as recall someone saying summat about pontoons at L'Aber so I claim my case of champagne which is convenient for you 'cos I'm only 2 miles from you so you've already saved on the postage.

Re: Where\'s this building site?

Hoorah! I was wondering how long it would take some bored person to put 2 and 2 together.

Yep, L'Aberwrach were publicising the opening of their new marina to coincide with 14th July celebrations, some weeks before. We arrived on 16th to find empty marquees and promotional banners everywhere, along with a bunch of froggie builders working on the outer breakwater, as shown in the pictures.

An excellent place to stop either to or fro Chenal du Four, standard French pontoon fingers, reasonable douches, but beggar all in the way of shops. No electricity, but should be 'next week'. Still quite a few swinging moorings for larger craft.

Will leave the champagne on your doorstep.
