I'm a great fan of Google Maps, and getting really down to the ground, Street View. I've been able to re-visit all sorts of places I've been to, and many that I haven't, yet, and are still on 'my list'!

Yesterday, however, on loading Google Maps to check a feature on Islay, my eye caught a huge expanse of blue, a sort of Jura triangle, bounded by Mull, Islay and the mainland. The Sound of Jura had become a wide expanse of ocean! Ach, too much 'uisge', I'll check in the morning!

Nope, it's 'not there again', like the famous 'man who wasn''t there' in the kid's rhyme! Zooming in closer produces a white road floating in the ocean! It must have sunk!

Security reasons (PM's holidays).

It's been missing for a few weeks now, although I see the island's outline is now appearing without any detail (apart from the road).

NO it is definitely missing. we were able to see it yesterday but today it has gone Missing in the RAIN and FOG with no sign of it returning.

Scotland would be great if it was not for the weather.

It's been missing for about 12 days. marinetraffic.com's website showing AIS ship positions is Google based, and has also been affected.
