Was also going to say the Deben as the red buoy looks very Deben-like. However, if it is Essex, maybe somewhere on the Colne? Looking from the Fingringhoe shore towards Alresford? Only Essex river I can think of with that amount of wooded land in the background.

Yes, it's the Colne from the Fingringhoe reserve. We had heard that there was an ibis there the week before and were rather pleased to see it on the saltings. Later it flew over the approach road and it is thought that there may be two.
