But, if it was the Thames, and the very upper part, I can't think of a building as close to the water as the one in picture 1.
 
River Waveney?

Looks a bit like the River Waveney, Suffolk/Norfolk. The small building looks like a land drainage pump house.

It could be a number of places!

There's a bend down near Racecourse Marina which looks just the same, and quite a few up towards Oxford.

Photo's like these are as common as flies on a cowpat, lovely as they are! :)

a little known and therefore used river, with the Old Port of Sandwich near its mouth, and an even older Port of Reculver (Roman times)
