Here's a truly tricky one for you; clues might be in order here, but let's see how you get on first! P.S. Looking at the url won't help you!

It looks like Scotland but I don't know really. The yacht is certainly well reefed. Looks like 3 reefs in the main and still well heeled. What was Beufort SEA state in this picci Jimmi? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Regards.

Peter.

The winner is Dave White! The first photo shows us heading back to Ushuaia (in the distance) in the middle of the Beagle Channel. The second photo shows us moored at Bridges Island, just a few hundred metres from the Chilean border. The season: high summer (January). The place: fabulous!

You're making me jealous. Its got to be some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. I've only ever passed through that area on NERC ships, and I never got to see the Beagle channel itself. I've tested the idea of sailing around there with SWMBO but the words "lead" and "balloon" spring to mind.

No, no: do go! It sounds hairy, but the area is so rewarding and full of little bays and places to anchor in. There are a couple of French yachts which charter and one English starting up next summer. If you keep to the channel and islands, it may be windy but never bouncy. The main difficulty arises from the Argentine/Chilean border which is not very permeable: you have to pass from Ushuaia to Puerto Williams to get across.
Certainly worth a visit!
