Saturday started wet, but cleared up quite soon, leaving a lovely sailing day. We sailed up to Pyefleet from the Crouch and saw just 2 other boats sailing, both with spinakers, plus maybe 4 motorboats and one gaffer anchored, presumably fishing.

From Pyefleet (where, of course, we were the only anchored boat) we could see some very good fireworks displays at Brightlingsea, St Osyth and on Mersea.

On Sunday, we saw no other sailing boats at all until we got into Burnham, when they were just getting ready for a race - and that was an even better sailing day!

Did no one else venture out?

I had hoped to sail down to Brightlingsea for the CYC fireworks party but the prospect of beating up the Wallet into a forecast 4/5 occasional 6 plus wind against tide on the way back on Sunday morning wasn't a very attractive prospect.

Instead we went for a quick trip down the Orwell and up to Wrabness and then back, a satisfying sail - particularly the beat back up the Orwell from Shotley towards Woolverstone.

sadly for me, after a month of being back at work and every weekend so far being on the boat, I could no longer ignore the domestic disasters unfolding in front me. I spent all weekend doing housework or cooking or entertaining guests!

Saturday drove to Stanstead Airport and got on a plane.

Sunday sat on beach in Canaries temperature mid 20s, pleasant breeze and swimming in sea.

Karouise should be lifted out on Wednesday when I expect I will again be sitting on the beach etc!!!!:D

You're not really taking this boating thing seriously are you?
