Where to stay/moor Wargrave to Oxford.

We are planning a trip to Oxford (or near) with some friends who have a smaller boat that isn't really big enough to stay on.

We will need to stop off at places that have moorings and hotel accommodation nearby or on-site. We draw a metre so we need to factor that in.

Could I call upon the collective wisdom of the Thames Massiv for some pointers?

The Swan at Streatley - bit pricey perhaps
There's Shillingford Bridge hotel, but the reviews haven’t been that good of late
Wallingford has good moorings and a short walk to various places to stay
You could try Oxford Four Pillars above sandford lock

also have known of people in the past who have moored up their boats at places like Goring / Wallingford and then stayed the night at various hotels or b&bs within walking distance.

In Wallingford, why not try this place that offers rooms. We had one of the best ever meals here recentley on our holiday.

and don't forget Abingdon, there are a few places there, the names of which escape me!!! One right on the Thames near the bridge has shallow moorings. Others a short walk into town.

The Upper Reaches (I assume you mean) has closed and is boarded up at the moment

Yes, that was the one, didn't realise it was closed, it's been a couple of years since I was up there and my local sources don't keep me informed!

It was only a month or so ago that it closed.

Still all boarded up... oddly no-one seems to be taking advantage of the moorings!

That surprised me to, I sent a couple of boats that way when the park moorings were full.

Be warned, if you do moor there, it's very shallow at the far end.
