I expect the marinas on the IOW charge an extortionate amount for a berth during cowes week and we are planning on coming over for 3/4 nights to see some friends on the island. my question is do any of you stop on the anchor anywhere during cowes week or is this a no no due to space etc etc etc

all feedback appreciated I don't want to stay up the hamble I need to be by the island for friends sake

cheers

Depends where on the Island you want to be. You could probably get in at Bembridge and Yarmouth. It is also possible that Island Harbour may just possibly be able to fit you in.

East cowes marina, would be free for you as one and the same marina, or is there some exclusion for cowes week

Nope. They will be on premium rates all week. No discounts for D&R berthholders. In any event, it will probably be fully booked already.

I think you will find that it is a standard restriction on the D&R group scheme - free nights for mainland berth holders can't be used in EC on a Saturday night. During Cowes week berths are usually fully booked for the entire week and at premium rates by race boats.

You will get on the Folly pontoons no trouble, they are usually quieter than ordinary weekends because people naturally assume they will be full and are reluctant to fight through the melee to get there. They aren't generally used by those involved in Cowes Week

That's not very good ,have a word with Rachael in the office
I understand that avaliable berths for Cowes Week were fully booked within a couple of days of bookings being taken. so not the fault of the marina. Any berth close to the racing will be taken very quickly.
The free nights for D & R bertholders don't apply fridays or saturdays in season or during any events.
