i am just to buy my 1st boat a bayliner cobra (a few years old but is in top condition from some1 i know- for very little money), i am currently searching for anywhere i can launch my powerboat inland(preferably in the midlands area). i have no experience yet with boats, but my friend has been boating many years. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif <span style="color:blue"> <span style="color:blue">

There is a place I was a member at called Chase water in Cannock, its a ski place, so membership is linked to ski-ing, but its got a good club house, and easy to launch slipway, and a reasonably big ski area with no speed limits. Nice people. PM me if you want any contact details. I spent ages trying to find inland lakes, but the few there are in the midlands are linked to water ski-ing.

The only other place I found was in Frodsham, where they have a river stretch you can blast along. There are set days for just being able to play about, and set days for ski-ers. I think it is about £25 for day.

Sadly other than that you best bet is probably the coast somewhere, if the weathers OK there is a good slipway at Rhyl (+ or - 3 hours on high tide). Sadly most of the fun has been taken out of inland boating with more restrictions than you can shake a stick at.

Oh finally there is Loch Lomond which quite a few people on the forum go to, just a little further to travel!

there is a waterski lake that ive seen motor boaats on in thurmaston nr leicester and one near the mill on soar pub near cosby. sorry i cant tell you the exact places but its been a few years since i lived there.

Nowhere now. Long ago some people might remember a place called Windermere where we spent LOTS of money. But they said p*** off, so we did , and now they're broke.

Try Loch Lomond. I know its a long way from the Midlands but they seem to have the right attitude

When you sat "they" you of course mean the Lake District National Park Authority. I was down at the shore at Wray Castle today on a very still day and noticed the rolling wash with breaking crests from the Dutch style ferries doing "only" 10 knots on the lake. Some yachts (motoring) were being bucked about something wicked. So nothing much changes. No better than pre-ban. Getting rid of the jet-skis would have worked a lot better.

The place near the mill on the soar must be stoney cove - not been there for years but its not very big and was always used for dive training so I can't imagine much area available for power boating.
