Hi folks
I'm having a right time trying to track down a new 2.5hp 2-stroke engine (preferably mariner/tohatsu, but anthing considered!).
Anyone out there know of any dealers that have any?
I have trolled the 'net without much success (most still list them on their site but are actually sold out - doh!).
Any info greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Rob

Thats kinda co-incidental my thread and Joanies at the same time, so perhaps it's meant to be! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I have PM's Joanie, so fingers crossed.
Any other ifo would be welcome though, just in case they too have sold out.
Cheers

They are now illegal to sell in the great European Union. (Except to certain organizations)

Hail to our chiefs!

Hopefully they are going to outlaw money wasting, empire buliding, corrupt waste of space EU bureaucrats next.

Watch it, they'll try to get rid of red diesel next. Mark my words.

Just as well the process of puff and belching forth hot air isn't outlawed or they'd have most of Brussels Euro-Parliamant incarcerated......hang on, there's a thought...anyone want to start a petition? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Only illegal to import them after Jan 1 2007. If they were imported before that date then they are OK to sell.

There are some suppliers who stocked up on 2 strokes before the date.

Does not apply to rescue boats.

Not illegal, they just have to meet emissions standards.

Which they can't, so I was told by mechanic the other week.

You just watch, they will engineer them to meet standards and then EU will move the goal posts to make them illegal again.

same emissions standards that 4 strokes have to meet, but introduced a year later, so if they move goalposts, they will have to move them for 2 and 4 strokes.

As has been said, it is not possible for national distributors to bring 2-strokes in, but they are continuing to sell the ones they have to dealers. Similar, dealers will have stock which they can sell.

Somewhere I've got a pile of about a dozen 3.3s, but the last 2.5 went on Saturday...
