Hi
Will be going over to Majorca in July and need to pick up some friends who will be flying into Palma airport. Quoted silly price for one night at a marina of 130 Euros (13M). I normally anchor around Ibiza which I know well. But dont know Majorca any suggestions for marina or anchoring.

The nearest marina to the airport and probably the cheapest in Palma bay is at can Pastille, club maritimo San Antonio de la playa, to give the full title. Otherwise there is good anchoring at Cala Blava which is just beyond Arenal, towards Cabo Blanco, still on the bus route to airport or Palma. Usually at Cala Blava they have mooring bouys down for visitors. These are to discourage anchoring in order to stop the spread of some invasive seaweed and to protect the seabed generally. I think these are still in place ,they were there last year, and I think there may be a charge , but it won't be much and it depends on if there is someone to collect it.They used to be free and may well still be. At the weekends these all get taken by boats coming over from Palma but midweek there'll be very few boats there. If you want to find out the charge for can Pastille , they have a website with phone numbers and there'll almost certainly be someone who speaks English. Boats do quite often anchor just off the cathedral provided no onshore breeze or swell, but you wouldn't want to leave it unattended and landing would be a bit tricky. Hope this helps and you have a good stay.

We've anchored at Santa Ponsa (had arriving guests dropped off at McDonalds..sad but true) easy pick up point just opposite beach.
Palma Nova works well, anchorage is good so just tell guests to be dropped on main promenade - oh for proximity to anchored spot mention JJ's sports bar.
Punta Negra (lovely quiet anchorage), easiest pick up point is the Mercadona supermarket which is just 10 mins walk away.
Both Palma Nova and Punta Negra have small jettys, no traipsing along beaches with suitcases :)

Might be out of your planned rout, The bay of Pollenca in the north - Puerto Pollenca - 5 Euro bus ride from Palma right to the Marina entrance and bay.
You might not leave, is the only danger ! :)

I spent a week anchored amongst the islands just off Illetes, a bit to the East of Portals Nous. It was called Las Illetas when i was there in 2007, but each Cala seems to have a name now. There is a hotel with a jetty a bit further North East where I would go for a bit of lunch and to fill a scuba bottle. I'd guess crew could get to the hotel for pick up. There are also a couple of beaches with a cafe where you could land a dinghy.

The islands are such that you can flit between anchorages to shelter from any wind direction.

As said above - you might never leave.

Idyllic! Even if you pick up somewhere else, it's worth anchoring here for a couple of days. Enter from the NE, and anchor in about 3m between the beach and the first little island.
