Hi, I am considering driving to Mallorca from the UK next year with my speedboat (invader 165) and would like to stay in Port de Pollenca. I am struggling to find any information on any public slipways I can use. Does anyone have any information about any public slipways in Port de Pollenca or anywhere nearby?

Thanks in advance!

I’m not aware of a public slipway in Puerto Pollenca, but if you haven’t already done so you could try the Port Authority there. Another option may be Bonaire in Pollenca Bay so maybe try them

Thank you for the feedback guys!

Thanks MedDreamer, I will contact the Port Authority as we haven't tried that yet. Will also investigate Bonaire as we don't necessarily need to launch in Port De Pollenca but can motor round. I'll post an update once I've reached out to the Harbor Auth.

There’s a slipway at the port. Red pin, “Rampa”

That looks perfect, hopefully the Port Authority can give us some confidence that we can do a pay to launch. This would be ideal and only leaves the issue of storing the trailer while the boat is in the water.

Given the cost of ferries and fuel I would look for some local options. I am in cala dor.

There are always local speed boats for sale
Our plan is to bring the boat down for ~6 weeks then tow it back again, we spent a lot of time restoring the boat over winter and I'm confident with its reliability etc. (or at least as much as you can be with a 30 year old carb'd engine..). We're not in a position to spend the whole summer in Mallorca as we're only able to work remotely for a few weeks at a time and don't want to push our luck! If the work situation changes I'd certainly be looking at keeping a boat out there permanently and may go for something a bit bigger.

It is looking very expensive to get there and I'm torn between taking the long ferry from UK to Santander / Bilbao or whether to take the Tunnel and drive the majority of the way.. Has anyone else done the drive and have any advice? We're not afraid of a road trip, there are two of us to share the driving and we like an adventure!

I’ve done the drive a few times albeit not towing. Always used the Dover to Calais route. Key thing is to make the trip in manageable days, three minimum for me so two nights. Book your Overnight stops not relying on luck, takes the stress out of it.

Gotcha, will bear that in mind regarding pre-booking. Was thinking either spend the night on the ferry and finish the journey on day 2 OR stop towards the south of France and aim to get the late ferry to Mallorca ending night 2. Common sense says to make it 2 nights and rest but I'm a bit concerned about where to stop and security of having the boat on the back and a car full of our belongings!
There is secure truck parking along the French highways but I don't think that would necessarily be near a hotel, which makes me thing the long ferry with a cabin included might be the safest option.

Looks like the biggest challenge right now is finding the launching location, Pollenca Port Authority don't seem to allow public launching during the summer months so I need to find out if it's cost-effective to get the year access permit. If not will contact other local ramps and see if they can offer a pay-per-launch option.

Just found this. Useful reference site..

Trailerhelling.com - All slipways on the map

That's a helpful site, much appreciated! I'm happy to launch anywhere on the north side of the island so will continue trying to work out the Pollenca ramps and progress further out until I find one who'll confirm that we can launch!

Will post back when I have an update and a slightly more structured plan 🤞

Quite a few of us drive through mainland Spain from Santander.
I have done the run several times towing as well.
Very easy run - mostly dual carriageway.
A couple of days ago, I spoke to someone that used to head for Barcelona then take the extra ferry to Menorca but I also know someone who takes the ferry regularly to Mallorca.
Personally, I haven't made the ferry crossing to the Balearics.

Another thought for you.
Mallorca is a fab place to have the use of a boat but if you just want to take your boat to warmer waters you could save money and just go to mainland Spain.
For example our marina (Sant Carles) has public and private slipways.
We also have a lagoon (7 miles long by 1.5 miles wide - 4m to 6m deep) immediately outside our marina - no speed limits.
However the water in the lagoon is cloudy in comparison with the Balaerics fantastic clear water.
Sant Carles could be an alternative that would save the extra crossing - UK managed marina with good English spoken.
Hotels in town and you could arrange a deal to keep the boat for a few days/weeks on UK style pontoons.
If using the marina, we also have a swimming pool and bar/restaurant on site.
If interested in that alternative - just let me know - I know our marina manager well.
Sant Carles Marina is about 450 miles from Santander.
