Due to my trying to double the size of our business in the present climate we can not get away for a holiday, but if Nicky & I carry on at the rate we have been, we will both probably end up dead or in a loony bin.
So, where can we go, nice marina, dog friendly, good restaurants & pubs, within a long weekend range of Burnham ?

Tollesbury (easy) or possibly Heybridge Basin (slighter higher difficulty tariff)

Witrh the dog, take a walk and within 1 mile you will have a choice of several at either location.

Peaceful too.

Ipswich Haven Marina. Definitely dog friendly, don't go in the Last Anchor though, the best restaurant IMHO is the Waterfront.

Ramsgate is now dog friendly as well, with a great range of pubs and restaurants. I love Ramsgate for a weekend as there's always lots of comings and goings.

Brightlingsea is always good. You do need a dinghy or you have to pay the ferry man. Early doors at the pub by the fish and chip shop ( Yacht Club does not allow dogs ) then fish and chips on the front looking at the boats. Quick trip back in the dinghy but don't do what I did last time and launch the dog into the river with my elbow when I turned round to see if she was SAFE in the front of the dinghy

If you leave the dog on the boat then its got a good Indian Restaurant .

I've seen a couple of dogs here at Foxs - and some of the four legged variety too :D
(can't believe I beat Sailorman to that one.....)
I've even seen a bowl of water for the hounds outside the yacht club.
You can walk along the towpath under the Orwell Bridge

heybridge basin and ipswich haven marina are both nice Ipswich is central two very good pubs near by the lord nelson or the steamboat which has live music and this time of year has a shanty/folk festival. The basin is quite with good walks you can follow the canel all the way up to Chelmsford or the sea wall down to Tollesbury (the pub at Goldhanger serves good food in huge portions)you can take the tripper boat up to the tesco at Maldon for provisioning from there its a short walk into Maldon where you can have a meal at the Queens Head or watch the world go by.

Thanks guys,Ipswich or Ramsgate seem favourites. Now just need to get the time. If you run your own business don't ever try & implement a new IT system on the basis that it will only take a couple of months to settle down. Aaaaah

hiya
yes the mystic art of computers always 3 times longer than they say... we had the same problems here.

we are thinking about either ramsgate or tollesbury this weekend. you have to book tollesbury as it can be a bit tight but nice club house and pool also very close..
