Leaky Hurley 22 seeks shiny new windows to make owner happy.

Tried Seaclear - he now only refurbishes (took one look at my frames and said they were too far gone).
Tried Lallows in Cowes - they pointed me to Seaclear.
Waiting for a reply from Richardsons at Island Harbour - emailed them earlier today.

Any other suggestions? Island based would be great, but not crucial.

If it's just the window panes you need try Sunlight Plastics Ltd, Waterlooville, last week. I bought some acrylic ones from there last week. Made to pattern in a couple of days.

I have used them twice, once for my last boat (a Westerly) and one for my wee Hunter. In both case they were refurbishing the old windows and in both cases they did an excellent and economical job. One particularly nice surprise was that it cost only about £3 per side extra to have the Hunter windows in toughened glass instead of he original acrylic.

Just to follow this up, I had a couple of quotes back at around the £700 mark for four windows which is a lot for me to spend - almost what I spent on the whole boat, though I can see the justification in labour and materials for the cost. Many folk never bothered to reply to emails (why publish it if you're not going to check it?!)

Did get lucky that Andrew at South East Marine Windows thought he had a set lurking in the back of his workshop. I think they built them for a customer who never took them in the end. I took some templates from my windows and posted them to him to be sure they were the right ones and he said they were a pretty good match so he's sold them to me for about half what they'd cost to build and was very patient while I ummed and arred for a few weeks deciding what to do.

They're winging their way to me as I speak - looking forward to fitting them to the boat.

+ 1 he did me a good deal a few years ago funny because he also had some left over from another order but I could not fault him apart from trying to find his premises in what must be

the most remote location in Essex.
