Need to replace the forecabin bunk cushons. Where do you reckon is the best place to get the foam? Does anyone supply good high density foam and not charge 'marine' prices?

Thanks

SWMBO recommended this lot. They advised type and size foam required to fit the cushion covers (they cut bigger that cover size to ensure good fit). Good prices, helpful. Not sure if they deliver though, but worth asking.

Yes, just read it - it's partly what made us decide we needed to sort them out! But not much info in the article on suppliers or cost?

Got mine from the local Haberdashery (in Wiltshire I'm afraid). All the foam was cheaper than one cushion at marine prices. All cut to shape etc. Try yellow pages under upholsterers or the like, a bit of asking around should come up trumps.

I have just paid £67 for a sheet of 4" foam size 95" by 65". Small upholstery firm in Liverpool. Worked out I could do the whole of my Jaguar 25 for £134. Nathan fabrics 0151 207 0777 www.fabric-crafts.co.uk. Might be worth trying them to see if they can arrange delivery. Alternativley come to Liverpool for the weekend and make a holiday of it. You would probably still be quids in

Try you good old yellow pages, our local one lists many. we use a local one here in Fareham and their prices/ materials are good.

They do the memory foam (like in the Tempur mattresses) at good prices.

PM me if you want the number.

Putnams near Plymouth supply quality foam of various grades cut to size. No extra for cutting, even if foam has to be tapered. They supply a lot of foam for boats.

Web site is www.putnams.com

We specialise in marine upholstery and may be able to supply to you if you live in the Poole area. Due to the bulky and heavy nature of foam carriage is expensive and it can be worth seeking a local supplier.

Foam selection is not a straightforward subject, and with foam the price tends to reflect the quality. My website, here, contains some additional detail about foam selection, but feel free to ring if you want more information and advice on foam or upholstery in general; even if you are wanting to do a DIY project we are happy to help.

Seeing where you keep your boat....I can tell you where there is a foam supplier between Ashford and Faversham. PM me if you're interested, save boring the others with the details.

Re: Sheerness.

Just tried Ann Rose fabrics - they are amazingly helpful - free measuring visit to the boat and sounds like a good price. Thanks for all the advice.

Just had mine done by HM Foam in Calne, Wilts., Excellent job. Really looking forward to sleeping on the boat now! They cut all it all, even the angled sides and re-fitted covers.
