The spreader base plate has cracked around the weld (stainless steel). I can remove it and take it to be welded, or buy a new base plate; if I can find one

The boat is a Macwester with original round/tube aluminium spreaders; does anyone know the size of the tube spreaders and where to buy a one?

Where can I take it to be welded in Southampton / Chichester area please?

Macwester made there own spars so not sure if replacement parts are available, repairing stainless by welding is easy and can be done by anyone with a welder, does not need to be Marine! You asked about the spreader, not sure of size but possibly 11/4" and 10g. Not sure why you need to know this as you must have the spreader. When fitting spreader base back on make sure you use Monel Rivets, they will cost about 50p each but are the correct rivet. Hope this helps.

There is a welder I beleive in Chichester Marina .. I forget his name but someone will remember it.

Oliver Taylor ( Taylor engineering) is based in Emsworth Marina near Nick Gates ( aka Seanick)

Must be many many others

If that's the one next to Holman Rigging, he did a good repair on my mast foot and also re-welded my spreader sockets a few years ago. I reckon he did a good job and the price was reasonable.

The engineer with welding kit and a lot of other stuff is Chris at the workshop at the CYC end of the road; good bloke and good prices.
