Where to download waypoints?

I'm taking my handheld GPS with us on a flotilla holiday in Bodrum, Turkey. It would be rather handy to prepare by loading the local ports and other significant waypoints into the GPS before we go. Is there a free website anywhere that provides a database of waypoints for downloading?

I would suggest you get a chart of the area and load your GPS from that.

Always do your own and don't trust others' waypoints without a thorough check.

I would second those remarks !
Sources of waypoints are very often incorrect.
If you take your own from the chart.
you can triple check to make sure all the entries are correct.

NOT FORGETTING TO MARK THE WAYPOINTS ON THE CHART

Don't forget to enter the correct system into the GPS as marked on the chart before you start or all your positions will be out!

BUT MAKE SURE THAT THE DATUM REF. YOU USE ON YOUR GPS IS THE SAME AS THE DATUM REF. ON THE CHART ....otherwise you may be a few metres out !!!!!!!
