Hi All,

We have a small repair to make to our skeg before the boat goes back into the water next month and then patch over with Coppercoat.

The total area to be covered is approximately 2 foot square so I am trying to avoid having to buy a full tin and then waste 98% of it.

Any ideas?

I don't think small tins of coppercoat are available commercially. You might find someone locally with some left over from coating their boat.

The alternative might be to buy a tin yourself and keep the remainder for future repairs. Just mix (resin, hardener and copper powder) enough for your immediate needs. However I don't know the shelf life once opened.

As Alahol2 says, maybe patch packs are available

Shelf life as around a year, so it might well be wasted.
As suggested, best hope is to piggy-back on someone else's Coppercoat job. Doing tiny mixes is a pain in the butt, anyway.
OP just might get lucky if the chap in the Coppercoating business who often posts helpfully on here is feeling especially charitable.

As mentioned above, we (Aquarius Marine Coatings Ltd, manufacturer of Coppercoat) do indeed supply half-litre packs of Coppercoat for repairs. Please call or email us directly and we can process the order and dispatch the goods you need.

Such a kit is theoretically sufficient to fully treat about 1.8m2, but in reality, as you mix up several small batches (one mix per coat) there tends to be a fair amount of waste, so the true coverage is a bit less.
