Student daughter needs a humidifier as rented room is damp. Have noticed folk use them on boats (haven't paid much attention as my boat has never been damp). Does anyone know where she can buy a unit that is cheap but will work for 18 months? Thanks.

Hi, I got mine on ebay but I noticed my local woolworths were doing full size units for half price, I think they were about £75. Ebay would be cheaper but postage can be a ripoff. Its always damp over here in N. Ireland. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Bought mine from B&Q .They were on offer for £53.00 but full price was only £79. It has a 10ltr capacity and can be set to run constantly with a length of hose attached. It's excellent on the boat!

We bought ours from Homebase about eighteen months ago for about £20. It has done the job. It would not mop up a pipe burst, but it has helped sort out a damp problem that we had/have.

The XM works well, is robust and has a pipe connection for continuous use. We've had ours for two seasons, running constantly through the damp months. It costs around £100, which may be too much for you, but it is a sturdy piece of kit.
