There were about 8 boats like this. Came at us head on. Really didn't know what was going on - the funny boats, men wearing skirts and mud all over their faces.

Just passing Dale Fort going into Dale - never knew Robin Hood had motorised landing craft though.
Did find a load of arrows off St Govans this week end mind you (except H&S had obviously got at them as they were all rubber tipped!)

Prince John is the key here. PP is correct. It's extras from the set of the new Robin Hood film, part of which is being filmed at Freshwater West, and it is indeed Dale. They came hurtling towards us, inside and outside of the moorings, and the 'minimum wake' bouys......
I don't remember landing Craft in Robin Hood, either, but it apparently relates to the return of King Richard from the crusades.
The rumours of Russel Crowe complementing me on my sailing abilities whilst on his way to trashing the Griffin in a drunken brawl are, sadly, unfounded.

You never know, Alcyone, if they don't do their cutting and editing properly you might be in the film! I understand that when they were filming Captain Corelli's Mandolin in Kephalonia they closed off nearly all the channel between Ithaca & Kephalonia to traffic in order that there should be no modern day vessels to get in the way of filming!

Actually, I might have been. A few weeks back they were appealling for extras for both this film, and for the Harry Potter one, which was also filmed at Freshwater a few weeks ago. One of the guys crewing on the round the islands trips at St Davids got a part.
I did think about it, visions of leaping from tree to tree, dressed in tights, athletic. Until Louise mentioned that the part of Friar Tuck had already been cast.
