The dinghy is obviously motor sailing and as the jetski is approaching from forward of the starboard beam the dinghy should give way and pass round the jetskis stern. In reality, by the time the dinghy has answered a helm over to turn to starboard the jetski will be 300 miles away somewhere to port.
Well its a Bombardier Sea-Doo XP, manufacturered before 1998 (not sure exact age) and its not displaying its Datatag numbers.
However with old PWCs like this they are sold second hand through local ads and can be a real pain as the people who purchase them think they are soft toys.
But as the photo shows, the PWC's course, speed and direction all seem to suggest there shouldn't be any problem (apart from it going above 10 knots).
Pitty you don't have a photo of water being thown over the family on the beach, who must have been almost getting their feet wet, and likewise I am surprised this PWC user wasn't sucking stones up as the water must have been very shallow.
Ah Ha, not on the lake it's on tidal water at Arnside.
The family were at the water's edge, and the shore is mud until the tidal bore covers it up.
I too wish I had got a shot of it.
Do you think it's Posh and Becks?
Managed to find the family on a section a panorama (excuse for fuzzy shot)
It can't be Posh. If there's a camera within half a mile she goes into Auto-pose/auto-pout mode. The fact that she was driving a jet ski wouldn't stop her.
I'm almost certain it is a Sea-Doo XP, especially as we now have an even closer shot where you can also read Bombardier, as well as the 'XP' logo just behind their legs!
The Virage, correct me if I am wrong is made by Polaris - they do look roughly the same.
Owned the newer shape XP made in '99, never owned a Polaris, so I could be wrong.
Very high springs water that day by the looks of it, don't know where that is, but very little erosion, I'm guessing its very shallow close to shore.
PWCs suck water in from underneath and will pick up stones three foot down which will damage the pump and prop - point being, if he did get those people wet, it is clear this guy doesn't know much about his craft, ie no training and hence was using his craft in water which was too shallow.
