I have purchased a "pre-owned" yacht. It comes with a 6 man liferaft but I need an 8 man - so have to sell the old raft. The liferaft needs servicing - which I believe could cost £300 or so. The catch 22 is whether I can sell a liferaft that needs servicing, or whether I have to pay to get it serviced in the hope that I can then sell it! Also, where is the best place to sell. eBAy???

Any advice?

I bought a boat last spring with a 6 man offshore canister raft that was too big and heavy. It was due for its first service quoted at £250. I part-exchanged it (actually a straight swap) for a new 4 man valise type that fits under the transom seat on my Moody 31 and will also fit in the locker. Cost new was £540 so I effectively got £790 for the old one /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Try ringing ADEC Marine in Croydon 020 8686 9717 or others local to you.

Hope you don't need a liferaft in 2007!

Contact Glen at SEMS, Olympic Business park Basildon Essex.

Provides most commercial vessels, all Police, PLA, and aircraft.

Great guy and he may look at a part ex with your old raft.

I HAVE NO COMMERCIAL INTEREST IN THIS COMPANY- I JUST BELIEVE GOOD SERVICE NEEDS TO BE RECOMMENDED.

I hire all my rafts from him, and all my safety gear comes from him aswell.
