I am trying to locate the whereabouts of Sarie Marais, she is a 33' 1960s Illingworth Primrose Mica design yacht originally built for the Royal Marines to race offshore, I have done many hundreds of miles in her and lost track of her some years ago,
when I sailed her she was berthed in Lymington Yacht Haven but when the old skipper died I lost track. I only ask because she was a wonderful yacht to sail, very stiff and and more than a match for the Sigma 33s in heavy weather. can anyone help. PS. I know the current RM yacht of the same name is tucked up in Plymouth at the moment, Sarie Marais is the marching song of the Royal Marines. God bless em.

Sarie Marais

Thanks armchairsailor, I did hear this from another source, do you know where or when this happened so I can verify the story?

Although Pete Goss did trash Sarie Marais fortunately not the one you are referring to! The 1961 Illingworth and Primrose Sarie Marais is very much alive and well and still residing in Lymington and belongs to my Father. He shared her with Cmdr David Gay until he passed away about 10 years ago - be interested to hear who you sailed her with and when
