A genuine mystery this one, found when rummaging through some old photos. Possibly in the Plymouth area. Date also unknown, but I'd guess late 19thC. I'd really like to place it.

Newtown Ferrers on the River Yealm ?

Edit. Just something about the shallow waters, buildings and hill behind. Hill behind now built on like a lot of places.

Thanks guys, it might just be Noss Mayo. Last time I sailed there was 20 years ago. I've looked at modern photos and that chapel on the left could be what is now the Tilly Institute. The skyline is about right, but none of the other older houses is a close match. And the creek, with the boats, would now have become a car park some way from the high tide mark!

You nailed it guys, many thanks. What's more, I've now found a copy of my photo on the internet, so it might have been taken from a postcard. Good to see it still looks an attractive village (thanks for that, Sianna). I've never been there though, but I had family living near Saltash.
