Completely correct. The small picture is The Ring of Brodgar. The larger one was taken on one of the off lying islands - there are several to choose from!

Must admit I couldn't identify the bit of coast but that part of the world is lovely on the few days when it's not raining. Spent some time exploring up there in between diving on the German fleet some years ago.

Really just an excuse to post one of my favourite holiday snaps!
It is of a beach at the north end of Shapinsay' north of Kirkwall - just west of Ork Ness; looking west. The tides are pretty exciting - so much so that the Sound of Shapinsay, south of the island, is I understand an area of investigation for Tidal Power. I think the former Naval Base on Hoy is being developed for the engineering works.
But I could be wrong - I am not an Orcadian. Or an Ork for that matter...
