Exactly as Colmce shows ... in fact Photobucket has made it even easier by ...... you left click on the tag ... a little yellow box flashes up saying COPIED ......
then you come back to here ... and right click <PASTE> ... or use keys : <SHIFT> + <INSERT> together ... you will then see the line pasted into the text box ...

[/ QUOTE ] But, just to clarify, you click on the words "IMG Code" that Col points to not the actual tag in the box.
If you want to be really clever tick the little box below the thumbnail, scroll down to the bottom of the page, click "Generate HTML and IMG code" then scroll down to "IMG Clickable thumbnails for message boards" click that heading to auto copy the code in the box below to the clipboard. Return to the post and paste the code in.
You then get, would you believe, a clickable thumbnail in your post! Like this:-
Go on click on it!
Actually it is a good idea if you are posting a number of pics as dial up users do not have to wait for eons while the full size pics load but they can then click and view the ones , if any, that are of interest. Also because the pics then open in a new window you can link to much bigger ones without bu**ering up the forum page width.
Incidentally I find P'bucket very slow to load, and use, at times.
BTW I have saved the URLs of My Album and the sub-albums to "Favorites" so that I can go straight to the album I want to use.
Finally does any one recognise the boat I have shown. Believed to be a Westerly, but unable to confirm the length at present. Triple keel. I think its a W25 but with portholes rather than windows. Question actually asked on the WOA forum by someone in US.
Thanks for that, I've been trying to work out how to do that since a few weeks ago when you first put thumbs in a post.
Also when you do that you can copy over at least 8 thumbs or 8 resized images at a time.(maybe more but I got bored).
The speed of PB is dependent on what you upload.
If you use Pixresizer or MS power tool and chop the quality before upload it reduces upload time considerably.(rather than depending on PB to do all the work).
Base photo 2592x1944, 2.36MB, to photo bucket set for 640x480.
Reduced to 640 by "powertool".........................0' 15"
Reduced to 640 and quality 68% by pix resizer...0' 04"
And when viewed on forum no detectable difference to my untutored eye and cheap screen.
This will also of course affect time for viewers to download from PB.
AHHHH. THATS the difference!. I have always copied and pasted what was inside the box previously. Now I see what was wrong. I suppose this is what Photobucket calls 'improvements'.
Thanks for all the good information above, but I agree with Vic that photobucket can be appallingly slow some of the time, and other times simply doesn't work at all...
So, back to my original question: Can anyone recommend a reliable site as an alternative, please?
(Or dare I ask, why don't YBW put some extra server capacity in, so that we don't have to muck about with all this nonsense?)
They may not all be suitable for direct linking from message boards although Tinypic is. You will have to investigate and check out the other features.
NB Photobox only allows very limited direct linking by message boardsand only displays low resolution pics. For those reasons it is no good as a substitute for PB. It is designed to flog prints of your pics which are made from the original hi res files. You can retrieve your own hi res files so is also good for limited storage.
